On February 8, a friend of mine beeped me that there would be an amateur Dota 2 tournament in one of the gaming shops in their town. So I replied to him that we can form our team so that we can participate to the said tournament. I am in Philippines so it also came to my mind that most of Filipino or Pinoy Dota players are only average players, especially that it is just a local town tournament so I didn't expect a high skilled team or player to join the tournament. The Tournament has a registration of 1,000 Php per team and will be done in 1 day only. The game system will be point system from a best of 2 round robin. Every win of a team is 1 point and the top 1 teams will be going to the finals. It is not hard to be in the top in this tournament so we decided to gather our friends and form a team. After we had a little conversation about the tournament we then visit the said game shop where the tournament will be held. Some of my teammates already knew some players of our opponents they also knew the MMR of some players in the other team. Most players playing in the said gaming shop where the tournament to be held has an MMR range of 2,000 to 5,000 MMR. We did not expect to win the pot of the tournament, we just try our luck and just to have fun playing with the other team and also to gain experience in tournaments.

However, you cannot judge a player by it's MMR record, there are some player that has a low MMR record but high skilled in actual and crucial game. My position in out team is support. 2 of us in our team has 3,000 plus MMR and the rest has 4,000 plus MMR. Filipino players who plays in computer shop or gaming cafe has a range of of 3k MMR to 5k MMR because most parents doesn't want their children to play Dota while studying. So most of Filipino players only play in a gaming shop and only pays per hour. Most Asian parents did not think that their children can earn money in playing big Dota tournaments and winning the pot, so they didn't support or allow their children to spend most of their time playing Dota. Besides, some town in Philippines had banned the game Dota.

Since it was a point system, we only got 13 points and the top 2 teams has 15 and 16 points. It was unfortunate for us but it was closer to top 2 and it made us proud even though we are just in top 3 out of 10 teams. Also we enjoy playing against other teams and it was such an awesome experience for us having our first experience in joining an amateur tournament.
